Heavy Tile & Stone Adhesives
Platinum Heavy Tile and Stone Adhesive is a high-performance, polymer-modified granule with multiple applications for floors and walls in interior and exterior spaces. It is a cementitious thin-set material that must be mixed with only water in order to install a variety of medium and large format tiles and stone on a vast array of substrates.
- Used for: Applying tiles & natural stones on exterior & interior floors and walls
- It is polymer modified & Bonds with a HUGE range of substrates
- Water & Shock resistant (not completely proof)
- Single component use: Mixing with water
- Packaging: 20 kg
- Coverage: Approx. 55-60 sq.ft. per 20 kg bag with a 1/4” x 1/4” (6mm x 6mm) square notch trowel for a bed of 3mm.
- Color: Grey & White

- Before applying adhesive, the surface should be adequately wetted and excess water should be flushed. The area must be shielded from direct sunlight. Using a scraping motion, the adhesive can be applied to the surface to be covered with the trowel's flat side. The notched edge of a trowel is then used to apply additional mortar. When installing a large tile, adhesive should be applied to the underside of the tile in addition to being trowelled over the surface to be tiled. (Proper notched trowel should be chosen). Thin Tiles up to 300 x 300 mm (1' x 1'), use a 6mm x 6mm square notched trowel to achieve a total thickness of 3mm Large Porcelain Tiles up to 450 x 450 mm with ribs, use a 6mm x 6mm square notched trowel and back butter the tiles with the same adhesive to a thickness of 1-1.5mm for a total thickness of 4.5mm.
- The upper surface or exposed surface of the tile can now be wiped down with a damp cloth or sponge to remove grit and other debris. Immediate measures must be taken to avert an oversaturation of water. However, it can be cleansed after four to five hours. Likewise for stones. With a damp cloth or sponge, excess mortar can be removed.

Substrate: The surface on which the tile/stone shall be applied should be steady, sound and properly designed, and devoid of dirt, oil, grease, curing compounds, form release agents or loose plaster & paint, and we even recommend dusting off the dust or other small particles that might of settled, because it’s mixing with other materials is not much advantageous. For economy the surfaces should be level and true within: Walls – 3mm in 2.5m Floors – 1.5mm in 1.0m.
- The plaster/leveling mortar bed, if applied, must cure for a minimum of seven days prior to the application of tile adhesive for tile installation. This ensures that the plaster/mortar bed is sufficiently strong prior to the application of tile adhesive. As stated previously, the substrate must be pure and devoid of impurities.
- Before applying thin set adhesive, the wall should be wetted or precisely moistened with wet brushes, sponges, or any other available material. Remove any dust, particles, or coatings from the rear of the tile.
- The product can be mixed by hand or, if available, with a low-speed (less than 300 rpm) electric drill mixer. Pour clean water into a clean container, and then add the powdered Platinum Heavy Stone and Tile Adhesive. Continue to combine until the mixture becomes creamy and rubbery. Mixing too much should be avoided. Before using, the mixture should be allowed to settle for 6 to 10 minutes and then recombined.
- Caution: only combine adhesives that are required immediately. Additional preparations are not advised.
- Approx. 1 Bag of Platinum Heavy Stone and Tile Adhesive with 5-6 ltrs. of water. The quantity of water used can be varied to obtain proper consistency.
